In my new Perfect 10 Party Edition cookbook, I highlight seven themes of parties, with a suggested menu and recipes for each. And new for me, in this cookbook, is include two cocktail recipes for each party. For an Awards Show Party (or really any celebratory affair), you can't go wrong with this awesome cocktail: Strawberry Bubblies!
I'll never forget many, many years ago when my good friend Tania and I were sitting at a trendy bar in Los Angeles, and at least half of the bar was drinking outrageously huge wine glasses full of champagne and strawberries, on ice. Of course, we had to partake, and I've been hooked ever since. I've played with different variations over the years, and this has now become my go-to party drink.
Strawberry Bubblies (makes a pitcher full): In a large bowl, mix a cup of sliced strawberries with 2 tablespoons of sugar and a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice. Let sit in the fridge, covered, for about 1 hour. When ready, fill a pitcher with the berries, along with a bottle of sparkling rose (or you can just use a plain old bottle of nice prosecco). Serve next to an ice bucket with some large wine glasses, and let guests help themselves.
Cheers!
